If you run a business in Australia, keeping up with your BAS (Business Activity Statement) deadlines isn’t just another task on your to-do list. It’s part of keeping your business healthy and avoiding any nasty surprises like late fees from the ATO.
Key BAS Lodgement Dates to Know
Quarterly Lodgers If you lodge your BAS every quarter, here are the dates you need to mark on your calendar for 2025:
January to March — due 28 April 2025 ( 26 May 2025 if Rise Accountants Lodges)
April to June — due 28 July 2025 (26 August 2025 if Rise Accountants Lodges)
July to September — due 28 October 2025 (25 November if Rise Accountants Lodges)
October to December — due 28 February 2026 (no extension)
If you’re working with us as the tax agent to lodge the BAS, you’ll usually get a little extra time.
Monthly Lodgers For businesses lodging monthly, your BAS is due by the 21st of the next month. For example, your July BAS is due on 21 August 2025.
Annual GST Lodgement If your turnover is under $75,000 and you’ve chosen to report GST once a year, your due date depends on when your tax return is due.
If you lodge it yourself the it will be 31 October.
If you lodge through us as a registered tax agent, then usually it might be 15 May the following year
Helpful Tips to Stay on Track
Add the dates to your calendar and set reminders
Use accounting software that helps generate BAS automatically
Work with a registered tax agent like Rise Accountants to avoid delays or confusion
Reconcile your accounts regularly (weekly or monthly) so you're not cramming at deadline struggling to find the receipts
Check your ATO portal to confirm your lodgement and ATO debts
What Not to Do
Don’t automatically assume you have an extension unless it’s confirmed
Don’t ignore ATO reminders, they’ll only get more escalated
Don’t wait until the last minute to prepare your BAS
Not sure when your BAS is due or how to get started?
